Chinking

If logs are your bricks, chinking might as well be your mortar. Although not structural, chink is what ties all the logs or timbers of your home together. Chinking makes your home a sealed unit and eliminates heat loss and air infiltration. Chinking the gaps between your logs also keeps out pests, insects and the elements.

In the old days chinking was made from mortar, hard and rigid. Modern chinking looks similar, but acts entirely different. Modern chinking bonds tight to the wood and stretches. This keeps a tight seal on every joint despite heating and cooling cycles and movement of your logs.

Chink should be applied to the exterior and interior (if applicable) of your structure. There are several factors that go into making sure your chinking is applied properly to ensure it performs optimally and lasts. We take pride in cutting no corners and delivering a beautiful and functional finished product.

We offer several different color options for chinking to fit your desired aesthetic. We also offer a variety of texture options; Smooth finish for a crisp clean look. Pioneer style trowel marks for a more rustic traditional look. We also offer sand sprayed into the chink lines for a more subdued look that adds durability and a unique texture.

We proudly use Weatherall and Sascho chinking products.
